A family stay in Doboj can easily combine animals, swimming, open green spaces, and time in nature. Some ideas work for a short afternoon, while others make a full day trip.
City Park, Gradina Fortress, and the Džungla outdoor pools are in Doboj. A car is useful for outings to Naša Maša, the fallow deer farm, Goransko Lake, Terme Ozren, Banja Vrućica, and Hajdučke Vode.
City Park: An Easy Break in the Centre
Doboj City Park has broad lawns where children can run and play, along with plenty of benches for parents. There is also a small playground, although its condition can vary, so take a look before letting younger children use it.
The park does not have a public toilet. Cafes, bakeries, and other amenities are close by, and Dobojske pite na vagu is only a short walk away. Picking up burek or pita and eating in the park is an easy, inexpensive option that many children enjoy.
Gradina Fortress with Children
Gradina is a good choice for children who can walk confidently on their own. The visit is short, the fortress feels adventurous, and the view over Doboj gives the outing a clear reward.
We would not recommend it for toddlers who are still unsteady. There are stone steps, uneven surfaces, and sections without protective railings, so children need close adult supervision throughout the visit. A pushchair is not practical.
For directions, parking, and opening hours, see our detailed guide to Gradina Fortress.

Naša Maša: Bears and Other Animals
Naša Maša is one of the most memorable family outings near Doboj. Children come to see Maša and Ljubica, two rescued bears, as well as wolves, goats, a parrot, a raccoon, and other animals.
There is some open green space where children can move around, a toilet, and a restaurant with an outdoor terrace, so you can combine the visit with lunch.
For the final approach, use Waze and search for "NAŠA MAŠA DOBOJ". Google Maps may take you along the wrong road. Check @nasha_masha_doboj on Instagram or the Naša Maša Facebook page for current opening information.

Feed the Fallow Deer
The fallow deer farm is about four kilometres from Naša Maša and is easy to combine with it in the same outing.
Visitors enter the open area with the herd instead of observing the deer through a fence. Even younger school-age children can approach and feed them with adult supervision. Food for the deer can be bought from the hosts.
The visit usually takes around half an hour. If you want to add lunch, Naša Maša is the natural stop nearby. Opening hours and admission prices can change, so check before setting off.

A Summer Day at Goransko Lake
Goransko Lake is a relaxed summer option for swimming, a picnic, or a barbecue in the forest. The pool has a shallow concrete section for children, while the surrounding grass and trees provide room to sit and plenty of shade.
There are swings, seesaws, and a sand volleyball court. A large parking area is located before the lake, and there is a toilet in the central part of the complex beside the restaurant.
This is an outdoor lake where algae may sometimes be present, so check the water when you arrive and supervise children closely. Food outlets are most likely to operate during the summer season.

Easy Walks and Pools at Banja Vrućica
Banja Vrućica combines landscaped grounds, forest paths, restaurants, and indoor and outdoor pools at Hotel Kardial.
Most paths are suitable for children who walk on their own, but some have gentle slopes and are not ideal for pushchairs. The walks are short, with benches along the way, so families can turn back whenever the children have had enough.
The indoor recreational pool is part of Hotel Kardial, making Banja Vrućica a good choice for a rainy day.

Indoor pools at Terme Ozren and Hotel Kardial in Banja Vrućica are the most practical choices for a rainy day. Both turn a change in the weather into an easy family outing instead of a cancelled plan.
Eating Out with Children
Smoking is still allowed in many local restaurants, which can make choosing a family meal more difficult. Outdoor seating is usually the better option when the weather is pleasant.
Ćevapi with chips are an easy choice for many children. Another simple option is to pick up burek or pita from Dobojske pite na vagu near City Park and eat outside in the park.
